Show Gratitude to Your Co-Workers

Today is World Gratitude Day! Let’s all dedicate time today to tell the people in our lives that we are grateful for them.

tinybuddha.com has a wonderful list of ‘50 Ways to Show Gratitude for the People in Your Life‘.

We have picked out some of our favourites from that list that you can apply today in the workplace to show gratitude to your co-workers.

5 Simple Ways to Show Gratitude to Your Co-Workers

‘Do something little but thoughtful for them’

It doesn’t take a huge gesture to show someone that you’re grateful for them. Doing something small for your co-workers like putting on a pot of coffee for everyone to share can help to put people in a good mood and takes minimal time and effort.

‘Compliment them on a talent, skill, or strength that you admire’

Everyone that you work with has been hired due to their specific skill set. Take the time today to recognize a co-worker that has a talent or skill that you admire, they will really appreciate the gesture!

‘Offer to lighten their workload in some way if you are able’

Taking work off of someone else’s plate is a great way to show your gratitude for that person. If you are able to lighten a co-worker’s workload today in some way try to do it!

‘Ask them about their lives instead of always being all business’

Taking a moment to ask a co-worker about their life outside of work will help strengthen the bond between you and show how much you care about them. You don’t have to pry into too much detail but asking about their family or hobbies can be a great way to express gratitude.

‘Resist the urge to tell them they’re wrong’

It can be tempting to start a confrontation with a co-worker you know to be wrong. Instead of telling them they’re wrong or that they don’t know what they’re doing, instead work with them to correct the issue and try to highlight the things they did correctly in the situation.

Try expressing gratitude today in support of World Gratitude Day!

Expressing gratitude does not have to be done in grand gestures. Small acts throughout the day can help to express gratitude to the people in your life and these small acts do not take a large amount of effort on your part.
