Morning Motivation – Start Your Day Right

Many of us still have a difficult time waking up in the morning. Whether it’s to go to school or to work it can be very hard to get out of bed some mornings. We’ve put together a list of tips and tricks to help get you moving in the morning. Whether you’re at risk of missing first period or your first meeting for the day.

1. Go to Bed Early

I know, I know, this seems like a very basic suggestion. But it truly is the key to a good night sleep. Many people struggle with being able to shut off the electronics or their minds early enough to put in a solid 8 hours. There can be all different kinds of distractions and many reasons to stay up but try going to be an hour or so earlier than normal, it’ll make all the difference.

2. Do Your Stretches

When you wake up in the morning the first thing you should do is stretch. This helps get the blood flowing and helps wake up your body and your mind. You won’t be focused on how tired you are if you do a task instead of hitting the snooze button for the fifth time.

3. Give Yourself Time Before You Have to Leave

Waking up at the last minute and rushing out the door is no way to start your day. You’ll still be tired because you haven’t given your body enough time to wake up. Try waking up with enough time to relax, maybe make some breakfast or some coffee and catch up on the news or a TV show before you have to leave the house and start your day. Energizing your mind will help wake you up and get you ready to start your day!

4. Do Something You Enjoy to Pump You Up

This goes hand in hand with #3. Give yourself time to do something you enjoy so you can invigorate your mind in the morning. Whether this is listening to your favourite band to pump you up, reading the newspaper, making a fresh pot of coffee, or leaving early to chat with friends or coworkers before your workday begins. Putting yourself in a good mood first thing in the morning will not only help wake you up but will shape your attitude for your whole day!

5. Go For a Walk Before Breakfast

Starting your morning with a walk will help to get your body moving. Exercise in the morning will help wake you up and as a bonus is a great weight loss technique as you burn more fat and calories if you exercise before having your first meal. And if you have a dog (or cat!) who needs a walk, you both can take a quick walk around the block and start your day off right.
