It’s finally the season to be jolly, but with that comes the always festive office holiday party. For most, figuring out what to wear or how to look for these events can be challenging. Follow this guide to help limit your anxiety and look your best at this year’s office get together.
Pick Your Outfit
Picking out your outfit can be tricky but to ease the process, make sure you know the setting or venue for your work party. If the venue is just your regular office, a general rule is to dress one step up from your normal work attire. Meaning if you typically wear business casual, throw a blazer over the top of your button-down and add a tie to give you a more business professional look. If you typically wear casual attire, put on a button-down and some dress slacks, instead of a t-shirt and jeans. However, if your company has rented out a local venue, check to see the dress code, this way you won’t fear being under dressed.
This first step is crucial to looking your best for any party, but especially your office party, where you will want to look your best in front of your fellow employees. Aside from just showering, there are a few more things you can do to look great. For starters, don’t be afraid to give a quick shave or trim to your facial hair. When doing so, it’s important to use a new razor, otherwise, you run the risk of razor burn and other unsightly skin issues. Grooming also includes the hair on top of your head so it’s important to be sure that it is done to match your newly shaped facial hair. If you want a more slick look, try adding some pomade or gel to aid in keeping all your hair in one place.
Add Some Scent
If you want to really tie the perfect look together, try adding a little cologne. People that look sharp and smell great, tend to catch the eye of others. Who knows, you may even get a chance to talk to a senior-level executive that you normally wouldn’t cross paths with. However, if you choose to add your favorite cologne to your look, remember that a little goes a long way, you don’t want to overdo it.
Now that you look and smell great, it’s time for the fun part, to relax and get to know your co-workers in a different environment. So, go out and enjoy yourself at the office holiday party.
