Interviewing During COVID

If you’ve been keeping up with the news you know that every day more companies are temporarily closing as a precaution due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. It is safe to say that many job seekers may be wondering if their job search must be put on hold during this time. However, many companies, including Breakaway, are turning to technology to adapt to this trying time and allow for as little disruption as possible while still being committed to keeping everyone safe.

At Breakaway, we are moving our in-person interviews to video interviewing for the time being. This will help everyone practice social distancing but still allows us to get to know our candidates and move them through the hiring process towards a great job!

If you have an interview scheduled with us in the upcoming weeks you will be asked to conduct the interview online via a video chat platform. Additionally, you will be asked to complete our paperwork online in order to minimize the amount of time required in our office.

Video interviews are very similar to in-person interviews but it is important to remember these tips as you prepare for your next online interview:

  1. Dress professionally. Dress the same as you would for an in-person interview.
  2. Find a quiet place where you will not be interrupted or distracted during the interview.
  3. Ensure any necessary computer or mobile phone downloads are done prior to the interview and make sure that your microphone and camera are working correctly.
  4. Prepare as you would for a regular interview by researching the company and preparing answers to standard interview questions.

By adapting to these different methods of technology we are able to continue to assist job seekers in finding employment while keeping our employees and our community safe during this time of uncertainty.

If you have any questions about our interviewing process please call us at (905)564-9671.
