FAQ

What is Breakaway Staffing Solutions?

We are a recruitment agency that specializes in long-term and temporary employment in the Transportation & Logistics industry. We have two branches: Breakaway Staffing Solutions Inc. & Breakaway Executive Search Corp.

How are you different from other agencies?

We are different than other agencies because we aren’t part of a large corporation. There is only one Breakaway. We care about each person that walks through our door and we will stop at nothing to place them in a job suitable to their skills. Our recruiters have strong bonds with our clients in Transportation companies and these companies trust and rely on us to provide them with excellent employees to become a part of their team. We have established a reputation of providing our clients with only the best employees out there for the job.

We also strive to ensure we are available to you any time of day. Our offices are open from 8:00AM-6:00PM Monday to Friday but we also have an after-hours line you can call if you have a question or need to get in touch with someone.

I sent you my resume, now what?

The next step once you’ve sent us your resume is to send a text message to (905)564-7642. This puts you on our availability list for work. Our recruiters will then contact you to discuss your application and schedule an interview at your earliest convenience.

Please note: due to COVID-19 we are only conducting video interviews and our paperwork will be completed online. We are not accepting walk-ins in our office at this time.

How fast is the process?

The process can happen very quickly. Once you have your interview and fill out the appropriate paperwork you can be put to work. This can be as fast as the next day depending on the position.

What kind of job will I be placed in?

You will interview for the job that you applied for and that you have relevant skills for. You may also find that our recruiters know of a similar job to the one you have applied for that pays more or utilizes more of your skills so they may propose that job to you along with the job you have applied for. You will have an interview with one of our recruiters where you can discuss all job positions and if they feel you are right for the job, next steps will be taken.

What kind of companies do you work with?

We work with reputable companies in the Transportation and Logistics industry. We personally visit each company to ensure it is completely safe for our associates to work there as well as assess the environment and the supervisors to make sure we are placing you in a job with people who care about their employees and want them to succeed.

What happens on my first day of work?

Before your first day you will be sent an email by your recruiter detailing the start of your job, where you go, and who you report to. This will include any necessary details down to which door to enter through and what to bring with you (safety shoes are a MUST). By your first day you will be very prepared for the job ahead. Our recruiters also like to check in with you after your first day to ensure it was what you expected and address any additional questions or concerns you may have.

Who do I call if I can’t come to work?

If you can not make it into work for your shift you must call or email Breakaway. Please call (905)564-9671 and speak with one of our staff members.

If your shift is after our business hours please call our main number and press #2 or send an email to [email protected]

Please include the following information in your message/email:

  • Your name
  • Your phone number
  • The company you are working at
  • Your shift time (start and finish)
  • Your reason

If you cannot make it into work please try to provide us with as much notice as possible.

What happens if I have a workplace injury?

If you are injured while at work first and foremost receive the medical attention you need and then place a call to us at Breakaway as soon as possible on our main line or our after-hours line, depending on the time of day.

Can I use my in-house forklift license?

No. Your in-house forklift license will not be accepted as a valid forklift license at Breakaway. We are happy to recommend great Forklift Schools to help you get the certification you need. (Tell them Breakaway sent you and receive a discount on your certification!)

When are you open?

Our hours of operation are: Monday to Friday 8AM-6PM.

We also have an after-hours phone line where you can leave a message or get in contact with someone if necessary after our office is closed.

Do we pay your corporation?

No we do not. We pay our associates every Friday by cheque or direct deposit. Cheques can be picked up from our office or direct deposit can be arranged upon signup with our agency.

Should I keep track of my hours?

Yes! You will be informed of the protocol for recording your hours depending on the company you work for. Please ensure that you are following the proper procedures for punching in & out, signing your time card etc. and in addition, keep track of the hours you work each week in case verification is required.

Do you pay cash?

Testimonials

Hi my name is Len I have been employed with this agency for just over two years. It is a truly great spot for anybody who is interested in working in short or long periods of time and the staff in my opinion is truly some or the nicest and friendly people to talk to with any situation that you might have. To walk in and get a smile from the front desk lady you already know you will be treated right. To the staff who will go that extra mile to ensure you get exactly what you are looking for. I personally would like to express my thanks to Breakaway for helping me get that one of a kind job I have been searching for.
